A Dream Come True!

~This page updated 7/4/13~
This will be short and very sweet. We are buying our old country home back! It's been updated but It's HOME... :) It's on a side road and this is where we pull into the driveway. There's a pond to the right where all the tree's are. On the other side behind the tree's on up the drive a ways there's a large Morton outbuilding we park and keep all hubby's stuff.
I think sitting on the wrap around porch is my favorite part of the property. :)

It used to look like this below. I suppose it is very obvious my obsession with this home, however i have never been able to overcome the emotional connection since we left in 2002.

ღ All Things Old ღ

This is an Old Post in a Journal I'm Closing Down. I thought I'd repost it. :)

All Things Old

I love anything Old & Rustic.
I found this 0ld window & window flower box @Robmargo
DIY Craft Projects using Old Vintage Windows Doors - Trash to Treasure - Architectural Salvage
If we still lived in our rustic country home i would Find a place for a window like this. We had a wrap around porch that went across the front to the side, leaving the back and one side open.
It's hard to tell much from this black & white photo, i need to scan some photo's in. The house is about 3 acres from the road.
 One day we will go back to the country if we can find something we love as much as we did this.

I constantly search Google images for photo's that inspire me. They are not hard to find!
I used to wonder what my grandmother got out of that huge concrete birdbath out in her yard. Everyone had one and i Never wanted one! Now that i am in my 50's, i like the old things. My neighbor had one and said she no longer wanted it and offered it to me.
Did i accept it? You bet. And i love it!
We have been away from the country for 10 yrs now and i still cannot get it out of my system.  There is a sense of peace and solitude i just cannot find  in town. Maybe having so many people available yet they will not make themselves available makes it worse. We search often for another country home and most searches bring up nothing.
I will still dream though.

We did go look at the land and i will post about it tomorrow!

 "Think like a dreamer who sees a challenge as something that i make work in my favor"

Yesterday we went to look at the land i posted pics of yesterday. It was grown up but the area we would want to put a house slopped downhill. Soooo..........we will keep looking!!! That reminds me to call the Realtor and have her be on the look out.(If this font is hard to read please let me know and i will change it.)
We have an old shed i put alot of flowers aroun in pots, and in the ground. Trying to get a country feeling! 2010
Getting out in the country yesterday just brought back the peace and solitude i remember from yrs ago.

I love these rugs on hard wood floors. I have still have a few!
If photo's are not my own click on the photo!

There are many good country blog's i finally figured out how to find! If i happen to post one of your photo's i find from somewhere other than your site and you rather i not use it with your link please just say so!

This is a light pink rose bush in our yard up against our back porch. It gets HUGE. This is the first year it's had a bright pink rose. :) I'm trying out a new camera and not having the best results yet....!

ღ One bright pink rose on our huge light pink rose bush!ღ

We have an old shed on the property so i have made a little country out of it or at least tried to! The more rustic the better i like it!
(This is a photo of a photo)

 I love dark shadows and light! I got this on the side of the old shed.

My old camera wore out and i'm trying a new one, not sure about it but my favorite photo's are darks and lights. Shadows are so interesting and i learned the importance of them when oil painting

This is one of our 2 cats Fred. And yes, this is how he always looks-meowing!

I've decided to finally get back to jewelry making. This is the first wire wrapped stone in years...It does take practice to start over! I do enjoy it. It's relaxing and i do feel like I've accomplished something.

Supper Menu: "Easy Recipes" and Healthy Eating!
From the farmers market---Fresh Green Beans,Fresh Squash and Brown Rice from the store (if you can't get to a farmers market get fresh from your grocery store.)

Fresh Green Beans

  ❤    ❤    ❤
I grew up in the city & never was taught to cook, nadda!. This was the first time I've Ever fixed fresh Green Beans!
                                  ~~~~~~~~
(I used a large sauce pan 3qt on a small burner)
1/   Broke the ends off and then snapped them into regular size green beans. and added about 1/4 cup of lentils
 (lentils are not only about the best bean for you but they add taste!) they are dried beans. We've never fixed them by themselves; always with other dried beans or something that needed an extra little flavor. A couple we know never ate green beans because they didn't like them. I cooked them w/lentils and had them try it w/out telling them what i added They loved it and now eat green beans!!!) Look lentils up and see what you can learn about them.  artical about fiber/lentils
2/  Washed them thoroughly
3/  Put  them in pot with water covering them over the top of the green beans
4/  a little bit of virgin olive oil-half to whole teaspoon
  (Can use onion but i used it in the squash)
5/  salt and pepper
6/    Stir every few minutes
-----> It took about 35-45 minutes for them to cook, and i added a little more salt and pepper when they were done & left them on low to simmer with lid on----don't let the water cook out.<-----
They turned out Great!
Squash
❤    ❤    ❤
( I get the smaller squash- they tend to not be as tough)
( Cook in a large frying size pan on large burner---I only use stainless steal & will explain why in another post)
1/   I cut them the hard ends off and then cut them in thin slices
2/   Then i stack the slices and cut them in half twice
3/   Add onions as you like them to taste
4/   add a little water and start them on high
5/   once they are boiling turn down to medium or lower depending on your stove--- meanwhile stirring often.
6/   add a little pepper to taste
7/   let simmer on low with lid on
(the squash does not have to be soggy, but i don't care for it crisp either.)
Brown Rice
  ❤    ❤    ❤
1/ Add 2 Cups water to sauce pan on small burner
2/  Add a little margarine to the water
3/  bring to a boil
4/  add a cup of rice asap
5/ stir before and during boiling
6/  let boiling a minute or so then turn to simmer
7/ keep stirring until lid no longer tries to jump off the pot :)
8/ leave lid on for about 30 minutes and check and stir
9/  If it seems a little dry before serving add a little milk until it no longer taste dry!
Some people like meat with every meal but we like veggies and fruit. Also it's not as expensive! We do eat fish at least once a week. There are some good simple ways to fix supper on the grill too I'll share later!
Even though i grew up in the city i plan on learning how to grow organic veggies and fruit! I can do any kind of perennial garden But veggies i do not feel very equipped to do....Yikes!
So my footprints will be wondering around the blogs I've found seeing what i can learn and looking you all up on twitter.
 NOTE: So i will follow some of you around who do what i want to learn!
I find the best i can at what i need to know then learn everything i can from them! With twitter you can do this and follow their mentors also!
ღTo Keep a Dream Aliveღ
Just blogging about this today!
Sometimes those old doubt's raise their ugly heads and try to steal from us. Especially when we think about all that is involved in making our dreams come true. That is when our thinking must reject those ugly doubts. People who accomplish what seems impossible do just that & keep that dream right in front of them!
The more rustic the better i like it!
This is a duplicate of our old home with the exception is has a second floor and is much larger. We would use chipped would siding and about 800 sq ft.
One of two dream homes. Its a duplicate of our old one minus the 2nd floor!
 Almost 10 acres the photo's are beautiful! It even has a pond like our old home place did.
The Past, A Dream, Contentment & The Future
My Infatuation with the 60's is obviously due to finding a few f/b sites with photo's that just plain bring me joy. I was a child then and could not begin to know the reality of this generation. I was a teen in the early 70's and a by product of the 60's. There was not peace in my world.
So just let me enjoy the world i envision as it is healing...for me.
The photo below i would have added "We Can" or if we Choose to be.
*Photo's are linked to owners*
Breathing techniques are used in Psychology for many reasons. Look up Heart Math. It's used also for PTSD.
Sometimes doing for other's; we are the one who benefits the most.
*Maybe this is why i long so much to go back to the country. It is so very peaceful.*
Maybe if we changed some things in our lives to simplify them, focused more on friendships and socializing outside this computer, our lives would slow down, folks would gather on the weekends in the yard to spend time together like we used to, the people we pay for a service would be kinder & we would be kinder to them, & we would be more content.
The  Past
The Future
Duplicate of the past- only logs and way too big! Our house was 900sq ft and had chipped wood siding. It sat on 5 acres, had a pond and huge morton building hubby used as a workshop. He fenced in the whole property himself.
And about 5 acres of land.
I've always wanted to learn to grow organic food. It's time to start researching!
Think I'm just dreaming? Yep, I am a dreamer and dreams do come true!
To Keep Or Not to Keep?
 ✍
I'm still trying to decide if this new camera will add up to the old one i had. It has anti shake on it but photo's are still turning out blurry. Especially close ups. I probably will go back to a Kodak easy share. When i get serious about it again i will have to invest some real money! My serious camera is for film, not digital...Thats how fast technology has come along!
I love light and shadows more than any other photo's i take. This is what i got today from our yard.
This is up against an old out building
I can't seem to get good photo's of the jewelry i make because they are close ups.
Getting back into taking photo's is a challenge i want to accomplish. It was easy to find things to photograph but in town I'm at a loss. I suppose we will have to go out to the country somewhere to find something to photograph!
My challenge thought for today!
`The 60's and my Challenge`
I don't sleep alot and last night spent some time looking at photo's. I came across a page on f/b that most all the photo's were from or of the 60's. I found myself smiling the whole time and realized i was more relaxed than I'd been in quite awhile.
I got so much joy from those photo's and downloaded many. That got me to thinking about my power word or thought today.
`Hope` was the first and only thing on my mind for many reasons. A few minutes ago i looked up Websters definition out of curiosity. What i found was more important than the definition.
They keep up with what words are looked up the most. This is what i found. First i want to post` Websters Definition`.
 ☮
#1 HOPE
1: to cherish a desire with anticipation
2 : to desire with expectation of obtainment
  3 : to expect with confidence : trust
I found this photo at the page i mentioned above. I can picture the 60's and some young adults marking this old wooden sign. It is the root of all that keeps us going, how we respond to hard times and loss.
I know from being online so much myself people are very Lonely. Who would not rather socialize with real people in place of this? The opposite of hope is despair.
This is the tell all...
❤    ❤    ❤
--->Hope is currently in the top 1% of lookups and is the 419th most popular word on Merriam-Webster.com.<---
❤    ❤    ❤
 This also will be my #2 `learning challenge`...
Anyone old enough to remember doing this? I was not but i do love the pics & how i choose to perceive the 60's today!
❤    ❤    ❤
#3 What's for Supper?
My hubby picked up some fresh green beans, squash and cantaloupe from the farmers market yesterday!  Guess what's for Supper! :) We do not eat alot of meat because we love veggies so much. I will come up with one other veggie & we have a Healthy Meal!
Whats on Your menu for tonight?
Whatever your night holds i `Hope` it's Happy!
